G&T heads for Silverstone

Home of British motorsport, the driver’s favourite, the flattest track ever…the names go on. We’re off there this weekend to support the Kaspersky Motorsport team with their comm’s as usual.

Let’s hope the UK weather doesn’t play it’s usual tricks at this time of the year! Although the racing will be very interesting if it does.

Moving up and moving to bigger!

So the time has come to move away from our beloved Digbeth and act like grown ups in the Big City!

We’re not moving too far, because Birmingham is our home, but we are moving closer to the action. Our new address is York House on Great Charles Street Queensway. We’ve now got great transport links and most importantly a Philpotts over the road for the Friday butties and a SubWay underneath us for the all-important 12″ Meat Ball sub for when the night before is knocking us around the next day…

A WordPress plug-in brings down world leaders

The news this week has been filled with the so called “Panama Papers” which have resulted in the resignation of at least one world leader, the Icelandic Prime Minister, and have caused controversy to surround others including Russian President Putin and British prime minister Cameron.

The data involved was taken from a Panamanian Law Firm called Mossack Fonseca (MF) by a hacker and reveals secret financial structures used by the powerful and wealthy to hide their assets around the world.

Giants & Titans | Panama Papers

Wordfence, our chosen security plug-in for WordPress web builds, performed an analysis of MF’s network and it seems that the breach may have been caused by an outdated version of the notorious Revolution Slider.

This plug-in has been linked to many hack attacks over the past 12 months so if you’re site is using this plug-in please do keep it up to date but moreover we’d suggest swapping it out for a different version.

It’s unclear who has really built the Rev Slider plug-in, maybe the purpose by it’s creation wasn’t so innocent after all, but was is clear is that keeping plug-ins and the WordPress core all up to date at all times is one of the best security steps you can take.

So, it turns out that not updating your WordPress plugins is not only just bad practice but it may also  result in the fall of world leaders and the largest data breach to journalists in history…

Beta testing a new Laser Tag arena for Teamworks Karting

When our long-standing client, Teamworks based in Digbeth Birmingham, created their new Laser Tag arena they wanted some people to test it out…for pure client service reasons we accepted!

Such a cool space and even those among us who were not Laser Tag fans soon got in to the games – some a little too much!

Explaining things for FLYdocs

FLYdocs, the aircraft document management company, has a complicated business (for all the right reasons!) but they wanted to explain it in a simple manner.

Appointed by GVA to handle The Meadows

Once again we’re excited to announce that property management company GVA has appointed us to help rebrand and then relaunch The Meadows Shopping Centre.

The work sees us working with the GVA marketing team to position the centre as a destination for the town and then relaunch all the associated assets.

Best roll our sleeves up then!

We’re super excited to announce that global internet security giant, Kaspersky Lab, has appointed us to handle all their comm’s for their motorsport division.

The work will see us developing the strategy, content and community managing their social media.

Added to this, we will be travelling with the team to various European tracks to bring the race coverage live to the fans.

First stop – Monza!

Well, she only flew the Millennium Falcon!

After a stella (pardon the pun!) end to 2015 with the launch of Star Wars’ new movie the obligatory board games have been flowing out even since.

But the one that’s ended up getting it’s own hashtag, for the wrong reasons I may add, is the Monopoly Game for Star Wars made by board game legends Hasbro. Buy why?

They thought that leaving out Rey was the best thing to do because after all she “only” flew the Millennium Falcon and had that small matter of the Force awakening in her…

So not a major character then? Seriously.

However, Hasbro has today confirmed that it would be adding Rey to its Star Wars Monopoly set following extensive fan criticism. The hashtag “#WheresRey” trended for several days as fans complained about the omission of the female lead.

And whilst the world, universe, man, his dog and many Jedis have taken them to task over it across social media the one, who the Force is strongest in, has come from someone much shorter and who, on the surface of things, might seem less powerful than the rest…

Nope, not Yoda (sorry pal, next time) but it’s a super-powerful 8 year old called Annie Rose.

What a legend!

Yet again proving the old adage “it’s the message, not the medium”

Amazon + Drone + Clarkson

Some say he is a fool, some say he is now richer than he was before and some say he is a legend.

All we know is that Amazon have got him to advertise their latest foray into drone delivery.

At some point we will be seeing drone delivery but it will naturally happen in places where the drones cannot interfere with civil aviation, urban areas and so forth. With a current 15 mile flight range delivering in places that desperately suffer from bad logistic networks, such as the Africa’s, is still a little way off. However, the aviation trickiness and built up area issues will be less of a worry.

But while we wait for out next home delivery to come crashing through our roof or smashing down on the car, here’s Jeremy Clarkson’s take on how useful it will be in that emergency situation where a child NEEDS something right now and just can’t wait because people will die otherwise.. First world problem huh.
